Alec has run many clinics over the years and in 2016 was the course leader, supported by Olympian Norman Dlomo, at the Eastern Province Athletics' training camp and clinic. The weekend clinic was attended by many of the provinces top middle and long distance runners, including Melikhaya Frans (coached by Michael Mbambani), who finished 4th at the SA 21km CHampionships in 2017 and ran a 2h15 min marathon debut
